Error codeDEFROSTING TIME
ApplianceBlast Chiller
Why the alarm is raised
A defrost is expected to finish once the coil reaches the DTE temperature. When that has not happened after DTO minutes, the controller shows DEFROSTING TIME.
Manual steps for the owner
Look at the evaporator coil and judge how iced it is.
Run the defrost once more if a single defrost was not enough.
When it appears during holding
The hot gas valve, which is the defrost device, may be the cause if the alarm comes up in the holding cycle. Keeping the unit in service as a holding cabinet for a long period can set it off as well.
Covered models
The UCBF659, UCBF632, UCBF559, UCBF532 and UCBF432 use the touch screen controller this applies to.
When DEFROSTING TIME comes back after you repeat the defrost, call (415) 329-7078 from San Francisco or the Bay Area. Describe how the coil looked and say whether the alarm showed in holding. More about U-Line freezer repair is on the linked page.
Model compatibility: U-Line reuses codes across series and model years, so DEFROSTING TIME may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
