Home collection, two temperature zones

The URBD324 is a dual-zone beverage center in U-Line’s Home collection, 24 in wide and listed for indoor and outdoor installation. The Home line is a current undercounter group that looks a lot like the Seamless series, but the catalog treats it as its own family, and that matters when anyone talks about parts or alarm meanings: a code from a neighboring series is not proof of anything on this one.

The reason people buy a dual-zone unit is to keep two kinds of drinks at two different temperatures. That also tells you how it fails. A complaint like “my sparkling water is perfect but the white wine is lukewarm” is a one-zone complaint, and it narrows our work immediately.

Describing the problem by zone

  • Which side is wrong, upper or lower, left or right, and what is it set to?
  • Is it too warm, or has a bottle started to freeze?
  • Does the other side hold steady all day?
  • Did the change follow a power outage, a move, or a big reload?

If both zones are wrong by a similar amount, the refrigeration side is the more likely place to look. If only one is off, we start with that zone’s sensing, airflow and door contact.

Sensor language on dual-zone controls

Dual-zone alarms are written with the zone in the name. The references describe left or right zone thermistor circuits open or shorted, for example L Zone T Short, and zone temperatures more than 10 degrees F above or below set for over 6 or 12 hours, such as R Temp Lo 6H+. A low-temperature alert on one zone with a warm one on the other can happen when a sensor reads incorrectly and the control reacts to the wrong number. Whether your controls report these alarms depends on the platform, so photograph what you see.

Where it lives

Home bars in garages and game rooms see the largest ambient swings, and a unit in a hot garage on a South Bay summer afternoon runs hard. Patios near the water add moist, salty air. In both cases clean the visible grille and keep the area around it clear.

Before and during the visit

  1. Check power, breaker and, outdoors, the GFCI.
  2. Make sure neither door is held off by a bottle or label edge.
  3. Write down what each zone reads and is set to.
  4. Do not open any covers or measure wiring.
