Fourteen inches and a lot to keep straight

At 14 in wide, the ACR014 is the narrower of the ADA crescent ice makers, intended for indoor installation at reduced height. Its place in a small run of cabinetry is usually next to a refrigerator or under a short counter, and from outside the only things you see are a door, a bin and a front opening. Everything that matters happens in a cycle you cannot see.

That cycle has a few moving parts: water has to arrive, freeze, and then let go of the tray. An empty bin tells you only that one of those did not happen.

Complaints we hear for this model

  • The machine runs but never completes an ice-making sequence.
  • Water is available but no normal batch forms.
  • Water appears somewhere it should not.
  • The ice cycle is louder than it was.
  • Controls or sensors act differently after a power interruption.
  • Frost or ice builds up in a spot that used to be clear.
  • Cubes come out small, partial or uneven.

Frost deserves a photograph

Of all the symptoms, new frost is the one that disappears before we arrive. A quick photo of where it sits, and a note of when you first saw it, helps us tell a door or airflow cause from something in the water or freeze stage. Please do not scrape it away with a tool near the walls of the cabinet.

Outside checks for an ACR014

  1. Look at the bin and confirm it is seated normally and that stored items are not wedged against the release area.
  2. Keep the opening at the front free of anything leaning on it.
  3. Make sure the water supply is turned on at the valve you can reach.
  4. Watch one cycle if you can, and note whether a batch starts, freezes and drops.
  5. Write down any indication on the control as shown.

Leave internal tubing and the ice-making hardware as they are. A flexed fitting can turn a minor issue into a leak.

How we would work through it

We would start at water fill, then freeze timing, then ice release, then temperature sensing and control, and finally refrigeration performance. Which stage comes first can change if your notes say the leak started before the ice stopped.
