Nugget ice has its own set of codes

Among the 1 Class ice machines, the RNP115 is the nugget one, 15 inches wide and meant for indoor use. Its error-code records are separate from its neighbors, filed under the RNP115 and URNP115 nugget platform. A generic refrigerator or crescent-ice code should never be substituted; the same wording can mean something else on another control.

The five Er codes

Each of these reports a condition the controller detected, not a named failed part.

  • Er15 points at the water supply. The control saw no water level reading for two minutes, then clears itself after five.
  • Er16 points at draining. While the drain valve ran, the lower-limit level sensor never registered within two minutes, and the control resets after five.
  • Er01 means the evaporator stayed at 32 degrees F or higher for thirty minutes during ice making.
  • Er03 is the same condition after ten minutes.
  • Er25 reports a freezing evaporator, with the outlet temperature below roughly minus 7.6 degrees F while the machine runs.

Water codes versus cold codes

Er15 and Er16 concern water: it either did not arrive or did not leave as expected. The others concern whether the evaporator is getting cold enough or too cold. That split gives us a direction. Seeing a water-level code tells us where to start looking, not that a valve or pump has died, and likewise an evaporator code is not a verdict on the sealed system.

How nugget machines misbehave

Nugget ice depends on water fill, evaporator cooling, an auger and ice-forming sequence, bin behavior and drainage. Owners tell us the ice is wet and slushy, the output stops, the auger sounds rough or the machine fills and then shuts down with a code.

Wet, slushy ice, a rough-sounding auger and an empty bin are three different complaints, so say which one you have and whether it began right after a code appeared.

Safe checks

  1. Confirm the water shutoff is fully open and the visible supply line is clear.
  2. Note the code exactly, including its capital letter and digits.
  3. Wait for an automatic reset; do not repeatedly power cycle to chase it.
  4. Look for visible water around the unit and note the stage.
  5. Keep the machine in the state it was in when the alert appeared.

What we do

Our order is water fill, evaporator cooling, the auger and ice-making sequence, drain behavior, then sensors and control logic. A written estimate comes first, and repairs need your approval. The outdoor version is the ONP115. See also U-Line ice maker repair.
