The pump changes the story

The OCP115 is the pump-equipped clear ice machine of the Outdoor collection, 15 in wide, and the current listing gives it a drain pump. A pump lets the machine empty its water upward or over a long run to a drain that sits higher than the unit. That flexibility is useful in an outdoor kitchen where a floor drain may be far away, but it also adds a part that can run too often, run dry or struggle against a clogged line.

Symptoms that involve the pump

  • You hear the pump start again and again during one ice cycle.
  • Water remains in the reservoir or the drain path afterward.
  • The machine cycles, yet the bin does not fill.
  • Freezing occurs but the harvest is incomplete.
  • Cubes come out cloudy, thin or irregular.
  • A cleaning reminder or other message appears on the display.

Repeated pump activity does not automatically mean the pump is bad. It may be responding to water that is not leaving the line, or to a sensor reporting something unexpected. We separate the cause from the reaction before ordering anything.

A sound log helps

If you can stay nearby for one full cycle, jot down roughly when you hear water fill, circulation, a quiet freeze period, harvest and the pump. Then note which one repeats or never arrives. A pump that runs only at the end of a harvest is behaving very differently from one that runs constantly, and your notes make that obvious to us.

The discharge line outdoors

With a pump, the discharge line often climbs through a cabinet or wall before it reaches a drain. Outdoors that route can be exposed to sun, kinking when the unit is shoved back against a wall and, in colder microclimates, a slushy blockage. The Bay Area rarely freezes hard, but a line that bends sharply behind a stone island can trap enough water to confuse the pump. Check what you can see from outside, and leave the rest alone.

Owner checks

  1. Take a photo of any leak and write down at what point of the cycle it showed up.
  2. Turn the reachable water valve to fully open and run your eye along the supply tubing for sharp bends.
  3. Look for pooled water in the bin and along the exposed drain run, touching nothing inside.
  4. Jot down the sequence you observed from first fill through the final drain.
  5. Do not change the pump or drain assumptions without matching the exact model.
  6. Save any diagnostic message before resetting.

Arranging service

Let us know how the pump behaves when you contact us. Diagnosis comes first, then a written estimate, then your decision. If you are comparing it with the version that lacks a pump, read U-Line OCL115 Repair. Related pages are U-Line ice maker repair and the U-Line error code archive.
